Thornbury Town Council Celebrates Love Your Parks Week

In celebration of Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Parks week over fifty adults and children joined Thornbury Town Council at Mundy Playing Fields to take part in free nature scavenger hunts, litter picking, cress seed planting and colouring.

One of the Town Council’s free-to-hire bat detectors was also on display, as well as information about the recently launched Community Nature Reserve, details of which can be found on the Thornbury Town Council website.

It was a warm, sunny morning and many children took a break from playing in the sandpit to explore the wider park, discovering what Mundy Playing Fields has to offer beyond the play equipment. The two large bags of rubbish and recycling collected demonstrated the enthusiasm of the young litter pickers and many cress seeds were planted or taken home.

Love Parks week continues until 3 August and of course our lovely parks are available for everyone to use all year round offering lots of opportunities to play, connect with nature and enjoy being in our shared green spaces.
