Grounds Maintenance Operative (Fixed-Term)
Thornbury Town Council is seeking a motivated and conscientious Grounds Maintenance Operative to help maintain our open spaces to a high standard. This is a fixed-term role for four months, covering the summer and early autumn period. The post is expected to start in July (or earlier if possible) and may be extended to up to six months, depending on the Council’s needs. The role is 20 hours per week, to be worked during normal working hours. Some flexibility is available regarding working patterns.

About You
Experience in grounds maintenance is desirable but not essential. We are looking for someone who: Is a quick learner Has a positive, “can-do” attitude Is able to carry out physical, outdoor work in all weather conditions
Key Responsibilities
You will be joining a small, friendly, and motivated team, helping to keep Thornbury’s outdoor spaces in excellent condition for the local community:
- Mowing and strimming grass at Town Council maintained sites
- Clearing litter from Town Council properties and other public areas
- Planting, maintaining, and watering floral displays and hanging baskets
- Carrying out light maintenance tasks, including painting, clearing, and light cleaning of Council properties and equipment
- Maintaining records of work completed and equipment used, where required
- Undertaking other reasonable tasks at Town Council maintained locations as required
