Grant funding offered by Thornbury Town Council

Thornbury Town Council Grants

Thornbury Town Council provides grants to support organisations that benefit the local community. Funding is mainly for new projects, development work, and equipment, rather than everyday running costs.

Priority is given to applications that support the Council’s aims, especially projects that focus on climate change, conservation, innovation, and groups or communities that are under‑served.

Grant applications are considered twice a year, in the Spring and Autumn. There are four types of grants available:

  • Small Grants (up to £750)
  • Community Development Grants (up to £3000)
  • Small Local Event Grants (up to £1000)
  • Medium and Large Local Event Grants (up to £5000)

Mama & Mini Exercise Classes Delivered by Core Wellness:

The grant funded the delivery of free "Mama & Mini" exercise classes for new mothers and their babies (0-5) in Thornbury, providing inclusive, postnatal-friendly sessions to support physical recovery, build confidence, and reduce social isolation.  By removing key barriers such as cost and childcare, the programme enabled 54 local women to participate in a safe, supportive and baby-friendly environment.  Participants reported improved physical fitness, emotional wellbeing and confidence, alongside stronger social connections and increased engagement with the local community, demonstrating a positive impact on both physical and mental health.

Thornbury Town Football Club Under 9's:

“I know I have said this many times, but thank you again! Your help, guidance and support has helped us and the club massively. It will bring smiles to 24 kids, which will delight parents, family, coaches and all connected to the club. Without grants such as this, I don't know how we'd be able to put those smiles on those young faces... So, a thousand thank yous!!”
