Thornbury Town Council's commitment to connecting with residents across the whole town was on display last Saturday at the latest ‘Meet Your Councillor’ event at Collester Way Park, Thornbury.
Held between 10.00am and 12.30pm, the outreach event formed part of the Town Council's commitment to welcoming new residents in Thornbury's growing neighbourhoods while continuing to support and engage with those who have lived here for many years. It gave people the opportunity to meet their local councillors, ask questions, share ideas and learn more about the wide range of services, projects and events taking place in Thornbury.
Visitors of all ages enjoyed free family games, including ‘Hook a Duck’ and ‘Guess the Number of Tennis Balls’. A winning entry has been selected in the tennis ball competition and they will be contacted shortly!
The event was a fantastic opportunity to meet both long-standing residents and those who have recently made Thornbury their home. Councillors enjoyed talking with people about what they love about living in the town, sharing information about local initiatives and hearing residents' ideas. Following the success of the event, Thornbury Town Council looks forward to holding more community outreach sessions in the future, helping ensure that everyone, whether they have lived in Thornbury for many years or have only recently arrived, has the opportunity to connect with their local councillors, get involved in community life and feel welcome.
In the meantime, residents don't have to wait until the next outreach event to speak with their councillors. ‘Meet Your Councillor’ drop-in sessions are held monthly at Thornbury Town Hall. Dates and further information can be found at www.thornburytowncouncil.gov.uk.
