Thornbury Town Council Reappoints Mayor and Deputy Mayor for 2026–27

On Tuesday 12 May, Thornbury Town Council re-elected Councillors Helen Ball and Chris Woodhouse as Mayor and Deputy Mayor for 2026–27.

On her reappointment, Councillor Helen Ball said: “I feel it is a real privilege to be asked to undertake this role for a further year. I would like to thank all councillors for their confidence in me to continue serving on behalf of the Council and Thornbury.”

Reflecting on her first year as Mayor, Helen said: “Being Mayor has given me the opportunity to meet many of the town’s voluntary and community organisations, both to thank them for their valuable work and to learn more about their current activities and future plans. Throughout the year, I have prioritised engagement with young people through schools and youth organisations, which culminated in a successful young people-led Annual Town Meeting in April. I would also like to thank all councillors for their hard work and commitment to supporting Thornbury over the past year. The role is undertaken on a voluntary and unpaid basis and can, at times, involve a significant time commitment.”

Looking ahead, Helen added: “I would be delighted to attend events organised by community and voluntary groups in Thornbury. Information on how to invite the Mayor to an event is available on the Council’s website and the process is very straightforward.”
