Eel Tails: The Story of Eels in the Severn. Friday 23 October 7pm - 8.30pm
Join Thornbury Town Council and the Linking the Levels project to explore the remarkable story of European eels and their deep connections to the River Severn. Come along for an evening of science, history, and conversation celebrating one of our most mysterious native species.
Biodiversity Officer Sally Pattison will talk about the extraordinary lifecycle of these remarkable, yet sadly, critically endangered creatures. We will examine their ecological and cultural significance to our area and discuss how they are faring in our part of South Gloucestershire.
This is a free of charge event, but booking is essential as places are limited. Teas, coffees and biscuits will be available after the event alongside a chance for an informal chat about Thornbury’s waterways, including ways you can get involved by becoming a Water Guardian or River Detective. There will also be a chance to hear about the work of the Thornbury Town Council Climate and Nature Committee.
This event is supported by Wessex Water’s Watermark Town programme and the Linking the Levels project, which is a collaboration between South Gloucestershire Council, the Bristol Avon Rivers Trust and the Bristol Zoological Society. The Linking the Levels project is funded by the West of England Combined Authority.
