A fantastic year for Thornbury in Bloom!
There’s so much to celebrate following this year’s South West in Bloom awards, with Thornbury bringing home some wonderful results.
Thornbury in Bloom achieved GOLD in the Champion of Champions competition, as well as the Best Portfolio award. Thornbury Castle and Thornbury Golf Centre also both received GOLD in the Business Awards.
There were more successes for our schools and businesses, with Christ the King and Gillingstool schools each securing third place in the Children’s Painting Competition, and Thornbury Golf Centre taking third place for Best Business Floral Display.
And that’s not all! We also celebrated 13 It’s Your Neighbourhood awards, recognising the brilliant work happening in our community.
Thornbury Mayor Helen Ball attended the local awards ceremony on 25 October, held for the first time at the Cossham. She said:
“Thornbury in Bloom is a major asset to the town – not only locally, but also because of its regional and national successes. It really helps to put Thornbury on the map. The committee and volunteers of Thornbury in Bloom must be warmly congratulated for all their hard work and well-deserved successes.”
The ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate and catch up with fellow Bloomers from across the region. Chair of South West in Bloom, Jon Wheatley, described everything about Thornbury as “Stupendous” – what a lovely compliment!
A huge congratulations to everyone involved, and a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, supporters, community groups, schools, partners, committee members and volunteers. Your enthusiasm, generosity and hard work help make Thornbury such a special place to live.
What a wonderful achievement for our town!
