Festive Cheer at Thornbury’s Christmas Lights Switch On!

Thornbury officially welcomed the festive season on as crowds gathered for the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On, delivered by the Thornbury Christmas Lights Association (TCLA) on Saturday 15th November. Thornbury Town Council also supported the event by providing grant funding to help bring the Switch-On to life.

The event brought live entertainment, a bustling community market and a funfair to Thornbury. There was something special for all ages to enjoy, and hundreds of residents and visitors attended.

Thornbury Town Council’s stall proved especially popular, with large numbers of children taking part in the ‘Name the Polar Bear’ competition and speaking with Town Councillors about issues that matter to them in the local community.

Mayor of Thornbury, Councillor Helen Ball, addressed the crowd at The Pump before the lights were switched on, thanking TCLA for their outstanding hard work and commitment in organising such a well-loved community tradition.

Speaking after the event, Mayor Ball said:

The lights will remain on throughout the festive season for residents, visitors, and local businesses to enjoy.
