Thornbury Town Councillor Gil Gilroy attended South Gloucestershire Armed Forces Day on 20 June at Page Park, Staple Hill, joining organisations and residents in recognising the service and sacrifice of those connected with the British Armed Forces. The event brought together representatives from a wide range of military and veterans' organisations and highlighted Thornbury Town Council's commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans and military families.

Councillor Gil Gilroy said:

"It was a fantastic day and a wonderful opportunity to recognise the dedication and service of our Armed Forces community. It was inspiring to see so many organisations, volunteers and residents coming together in support of those who serve, have served, and their families. Thornbury Town Council is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and remains committed to supporting the Armed Forces community both locally and nationally."

The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families, ensuring they are treated fairly and recognised for their contribution to our communities and country. Through the Covenant, Thornbury Town Council pledges to promote understanding, support employment opportunities, champion military families and veterans, and take part in activities that honour the Armed Forces community.

Events such as South Gloucestershire Armed Forces Day provide an important opportunity to celebrate the dedication and sacrifice of those connected to the Armed Forces. Thornbury Town Council is proud to support these efforts and to honour the contribution they make to our town and beyond.
