Thornbury Town Council is pleased to share that the Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 9th November was very well attended. It was wonderful to see so many members of the community come together to pay their respects and to see such strong representation from local groups and organisations.
Mayor Helen Ball said, “As Thornbury Mayor, I was privileged to lead the parade to St Mary's Church for the Remembrance Sunday service, and then to take the salute afterwards. The service was very well attended, with some people unable to get a seat in the church. As always, laying the wreath on behalf of the town, along with other representatives, reminded all of us of the service of so many people over the years. The navy, army and air force along with veterans were well represented. Our young people, from the various uniformed organisations, made me particularly proud with their thoughtful contribution to this Remembrance service.”
Thornbury Town Council would like to extend its thanks to everyone who attended and participated in making this important day so special for Thornbury.
